Safety:

The Cub-fuser is fitted with the KCX system. It will electronically monitor the temperature and shut down the kiln if it attempts to get hotter than the pre-set cut-off temperature of 970C, (10C above the maximum temperature of the kiln). If it is triggered it will make an audible alarm. This feature will work over and above the present safety features of the KCR16 controller so giving not only protection against a kiln issue, but safety against a controller issue also. We believe this is the only brand of kiln on the market that has its own, built in electronic monitoring system that doesn’t rely solely on the kiln controller for safety.

The kiln comes with a shelf kit, which includes one shelf measuring 49cmx49cm, plus 4 props.

Stand (Optional):

The optional Cub-fuser stand has two shelves, one for the kiln to sit on and one for your own use. It raises the kiln by 650mm to a comfortable height. It is made of steel and is powder coated to match the kiln. The stand is supplied ready for assembly.

Castors (Optional):

Add castors to the stand to make your kiln easily moveable. A worthwhile extra!

This kiln is largest we sell that plugs in to a standard domestic socket outlet, so no specialist wiring is required.

Elements:

The kiln is equipped with high performance, hard-wearing infra-red quartz elements and well-designed insulation. It has a fast react thermocouple and is also fast cooling. The elements are located in the lid for even heating; this also makes them easy to replace if required.  The elements are switched off when the lid is opened by an automatic safety switch.

Lid:

The lid is made from stainless steel: powder coated and oven baked.  It is lined out with press cut, non-ceramic fibre.  This eliminates the risk of brick dust particles dropping from the lid, making for a very clean firing environment. The lid construction enables the Cub-fuser to retain the heat when needed but still release heat rapidly during the all-important cool-down period.

The lid stays open once lifted, leaving you with both hands free to load or unload the kiln.  There are also two handles for left or right hand lifting and a catch to hold the lid closed.

In the centre of the lid is a large spy/vent hole with spring return, anti dust flap - great for keeping an eye on your firing.

Base: 

The base section of the chamber is made from highly insulating and lightweight fibre blanket. The shelf sits on top using the props provided.
