Umber is a rich brown, which matures to its target colour on firing, it is good for use on autumn scenes.

Cold characteristics:
Variation in colour density. May be partly transparent.
Working notes:
Opalises to a more consistent colour. May dapple slightly.
This style is not suitable for kilncasting because it can opalise and/or become incompatible when held at high temperatures for an extended period.
