1 reviewDichroic Extract is a powder form of pure dichroic coating. When mixed with water, Glastac Glue or Liquid Stringer it can be painted onto glass to create a piece that is truly unique to you.
This pot contains 1/8th sheet of Yellow/Blue Dichroic Extract powder. Compatible with all glass types.
Less is more with this powder, using Dichroic Extract sparingly creates a better result and a tiny amount goes a very long way. If mixing with water, any excess can be allowed to evaporate off to leave the extract ready to use another time.
Dichroic Extract can be used between layers or on top, but please be aware that if you use it on top of the glass some of the extract will rub off. Experiment with sprinkling a fine layer of clear powder over the top before firing to reduce this.
Renowned glass artist Bob Leatherbarrow uses dichroic extract to add subtle shimmer to his fish wafers, which are then inset into a bowl (see second product photo).

The product itself is amazing and delivery was very good and quick.
One thing that you need to be aware of is that the blue/yellow extract actually comes in powder form unlike the other extract colours which are made from much bigger flakes. This therefore when you buy more than one colour it makes it look like you are missing most of your product.
As this is not explained in the product listing, I thought that I had received a faulty batch and queried it.
It was then explained to me. I suggested that they put this information in the listing, but so far they haven't. So I decided to do this for them with this review.
As I say, the product itself is great, but I can only give it 3*** for this reason.
WARM GLASS REPLY: Hi Emma, You purchased this along with the two premium colours we stock (Green/Magenta and Silver). These premium colours are generally of a slightly larger grain than other extract colours such as this one. This make is appear as if there is more in the pot, but all our dichroic extracts are the equivalent of 1/8th sheet of dichroic coating.
