This Opal colour can be used for both kiln-forming and stained glass. An opaque and glossy shade, this classic Black melts beautifully for a uniform surface. Prone to devitrification if the surface is dirty when it's fired.

Product Information

Bullseye opalescent sheet glass has an assertiveness and complexity of colour that isn’t matched anywhere. These sheets, when held to light, respond with a fascinating array of complementary hues - like an opal.

Working Notes

Cold characteristics: 

Consistent colour. Although termed an opal due to its almost total lack of light transmission, this is (in terms of its composition) actually a transparent glass.

Working notes: 

Low viscosity. Will flow sooner and more than other glasses. In very thin sections the colour may vary from reddish/grey to
bluish/grey.

 

All our glass is COE90, Bullseye Glass compatible and suitable for applications such as glass fusing, glass casting and glass slumping (unless otherwise stated in the description).

I use black opal Bullseye, 10 times more than any other colour, mostly used with black backed dichroic using the black opal as a base. The only glass I use slightly more of is the clear Tekta, which I use to cap dichroic glass with.



You can use 2 layers of plain black to make earrings, or 3 layers for a pendant.
