2mm Bullseye Stringers

Standard Pack : Contains approximately 12 stringers

Economy Pack : Contains approximately 50 stringers

Approximately 44cm long.

Stringers, threads of glass pulled from remelted Bullseye compatible sheet, can be used for lines or patterns in 2 or 3 dimensional kilnformed or torchworked projects. Bend with a candle or use straight from the tube.

Please note these packs may contain striker glasses which means that they will appear pale or colourless and "strike" (change) to the target colour only after firing.

Working Notes

Like our sheet glass, stringers are made by hand. There may be slight variation in colour, thickness, length, etc.

All our glass is COE90, Bullseye Glass compatible and suitable for applications such as glass fusing, glass casting and glass slumping (unless otherwise stated in the description).

I loved the video showing how to bend stringers with a candle, so I tried it. I found it surprisingly easy to control the curve; even a long gradual curve was possible after only a few practice attempts. It can be tricky to align several bends in the same plane though.

The problem with this technique, for me, was the sooty deposit left by the candle. Easy to avoid; use a small spirit lamp - or presumably a small butane flame.
