CBS Special Edition: Crinklized Blue/Gold on Clear.

Fires to a bright colour with a crinklized texture. This dichroic is sure to add a dazzling uniqueness to your glass design.

This exclusive dichroic coating fuses rough with a brilliant coloured course texture. When fusing with the coating exposed or capped, the surface crinkles and crystallizes profusely sending thousands of miniature crystalline-like mirrors upward, positioning themselves in different directions.

What is Dichroic Glass? Dichroic is a multi-layer coating placed on glass using a technical process known as thin film coating. Dichroic glass has a transmitted colour and a completely different reflective colour; these two colours shift depending on the angle of view. The play of light together with its vibrant colour makes dichroic glass a prime tool to add interest to any kiln glass work. CBS have been manufacturing this product longer than anyone in the business and their dichroic glass is Bullseye compatible and of consistently high quality.

Quarter Sheet Sizing: Quarter sheets of Dichroic glass are a quarter of a circle. The area of a quarter sheet is around 450 sq cm, which is about the same area as 4.5 10x10cm sheets.

A note about dichroic on clear glass: Dichroic coating on clear glass produces a subtle effect that many artists find appealing. It is difficult to photograph so please be aware that your glass will be essentially clear, with a subtle mix of the transmitted and reflected colours shown in the main image. If you prefer to make the dichroic colours stand out more, simply layer it up with darker glass styles or choose dichroic on black.

All our glass is CoE90, Bullseye Glass compatible and suitable for applications such as glass fusing, glass casting and glass slumping (unless otherwise stated in the description).

Customer Questions
How can you tell if the dichroic glass is "crinklized" before its fired? Does it look different to un crinklized dichroic???

Crinklized dichroic will look the same as ordinary dichroic before firing. The crinklized effect happens during the firing process.

Is the transmitted colour what you see when you hold the glass up to the light or put on white paper? And the reflected when on dark paper or background?

The reflected colour is always the more obvious colour, the transmitted colour is the colour you see when holding the glass up to the light and looking through it.
